The principle of aligning the center roller
When the centerline of the roller is perpendicular to the centerline of the conveyor belt, take any contact point M between the conveyor belt and the roller. At this point, the linear velocity V of the conveyor belt is equal to the rotational velocity Vg of the roller. Since there is no relative sliding speed, there is static friction between the two. The frictional force Ft of the tape to the roller is balanced with the frictional reaction force Fd of the roller to the tape. The angle between Fd and the centerline of the tape is α=0. Therefore, when the centerline of the roller is perpendicular to the centerline of the tape, the tape is not subjected to lateral force, and the roller cannot automatically correct deviation when the tape deviates.
When the centerline of the roller is not perpendicular to the centerline of the conveyor belt, that is, when the roller tilts forward by a certain angle ∑, taking any contact point M, the linear velocity of the conveyor belt at that point is V, and the rotational speed of the roller is Vg. Due to the non perpendicularity between the centerline of the roller and the centerline of the tape, a relative sliding velocity AV is generated, and there is dynamic friction between the two. The frictional force Ft of the tape to the roller is in the same direction as the relative sliding velocity AV, and the frictional reaction force Fd of the roller to the tape is opposite to the relative sliding velocity AV: due to the certain angle α between Fd and the centerline of the tape, the tape has lateral force Fh and radial force 10000, and the lateral correction force Fh of the roller to the tape is Fdsin α. Therefore, when the roller tilts forward at a certain angle and the tape deviates, it has the ability to correct the deviation. The self-aligning roller is designed and manufactured based on this.
